Here’s a collection of some of the questions I get most often, and my answers. Please feel free to add your questions here too. I will answer them and add them to the list.
1) “How soon will I get my order?"
Usually, it takes about a week for your T-shirts to arrive. Sometimes sooner, but usually no later than 7 to 10 days at the most. We package and ship T-shirts within 48 to 72 hours after we receive the order. We ship everything Priority Mail, and that takes 3 to 4 days. We are based in Detroit, Michigan. If you live in Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin, or another nearby state, you will get your T’s pretty quickly. If you live in Texas, Florida, Arizona, or California, it will take a little longer. Most people have said they receive their T’s within 4 to 5 days on average.
Also, please note that orders that are paid for using Money Orders, as well as orders that are paid for using the Paypal / checking account option, will take a little longer. We must wait for payment to clear before we can ship your T-shirts.
Lastly, International orders and T-shirts sent to Military addresses can take up to 2 to 3 weeks - depending on the country. Canadian orders usually take about 10 days.
2) “Why don’t you have my size?"
We try to cater to everyone, which is why we carry T-shirts that range in size from small to 5XL. But, not every T-shirt design we carry comes in every size. This could be for a couple of reasons: Our supplier may be temporarily out of stock of a particular size, we might be temporarily sold out and we’re waiting for a new shipment to arrive, or our particular supplier just doesn’t make the T-shirt in your size. This is most often true for Small, 4XL, and 5XL sizes. Another reason could be that a particular design is a close-out; they just don’t make them anymore and the design is no longer available. What you see on the website is all we have available.
We are receiving and making more T-shirts every day, and adding them to the website every week. If you don’t see your size today, check back in a few days. Or, send me an e-mail and ask me about the T-shirt you are looking for.
3) “Why don’t you have more women’s T-shirts?"
We are fixing that problem. We are making more women’s style T’s and adding them to the site every month. Also, please note: Not every design is available in women’s styles. I receive requests for certain designs to be made available in women’s style. Unfortunately, it’s not possible for some designs due to color and style restrictions.
Please stay tuned. Our collection of T-shirts grows every month. And so is the availability of women’s style T-shirts.
4) “Do you offer any posters?” “How about stickers or greeting cards?"
We don’t carry any of these items. We don’t carry shorts or blue jeans, skull caps, or coffee mugs either. We make and sell T-shirts. That’s it. Nothing more. Nada. Ok, ok… we do carry different kinds of T-shirts: long sleeve, women’s style, etc. And we intend to carry more. We also sell sweatshirts, and we’re making more of those available as time goes on. But that’s it. We just want to be very good (the best actually) at carrying T-shirts that cater to Black history, Black culture, and Black thought. Period.
5) “Do you offer any catalogs of your products?"
Nope. Can’t do it right now, and probably won’t do it ever. Why? ‘Cause we make so many new T-shirts, any catalog we printed would be obsolete or out-of-date within a week or two. Why print 500 or 1,000 catalogs, and then end up throwing most of them away (or printing endless supplements) because we made a couple of new T-shirts since the catalog was printed? Please note: Urban Profile may be just one T-shirt distributor, but we are made up of a group of T-shirt designers and manufacturers. Any one of us could make one new T-shirt a month (or less) and Urban Profile would end up with 1/2 a dozen (or more) brand new T-shirts every month. It’s much easier to update our website than make a catalog. Not only that, really good professional catalogs are expensive. And cost quite a bit to mail too.
6) “Can I pre-order a T-shirt?” “Can I pay for a T-shirt now that you don’t have, and then you can send it to me when you get it back in stock?"
We just can’t do that right now. Possibly in the future, but not right now. With thousands of T-shirts in our inventory, and hundreds of orders a month, taking pre-orders is just not possible with the resources and manpower we currently have. Not only that, many of our T-shirts come in on an “as available” basis. That means, we order a lot of T-shirts but only receive what’s actually available at the time. It makes it pretty hard to promise a certain size and color if it’s just not available from our various suppliers at the time.
Do you have a question? Have we left something out? Please leave a comment or question for us. We will add it to the list.
